Swan Valley Football Club – Women’s AFLX team, February 2018
In an historic day for the Swan Valley Football Club both the League and Reserves sides played off in Grand Finals at Kingsway Reserve yesterday. With both side being dominant in their respective grades throughout the season and achieving minor premierships, the sides were positioned well to taste the ultimate success. In two very hard fought games however, only the C3 Reserves side walked away as Premiers to go back to back. Inaccurate kicking almost cost valley the game but with gritty determination Valley kicked ahead in the last quarter to win by 6 points over Mosman Park.
C3 played a determined Nollamara side and struggled to reach their usual high standard of play for the whole game. Despite defeating Nollamara comfortably in the two regular season games, Nollamara turned the tables when it counted to win by 9 points. Unlucky to our lads but congratulations on a brilliant season which sees the club advance to C2 grade next season!
Congrats to the SVFC Committee, Coaches Brian Lloyd and Rick Esteban and the training staff on another successful season!
With both our C3 & C3R footy sides winning their prelims last weekend, we are proud to announce that our Football club will not only be in the Grandfinal this coming weekend, but will also be promoted to C2 grade next season!
Earlier today the venue for the grand finals for both our Reserves and League sides were confirmed and will be played at Kingsway Reserve this Saturday. The reserves game commences at 12.10pm with the league side following that game at 2.30pm.
Two buses have been organised for Saturday’s GF at Kingsway Reserve. $15 per person for return bus trip and entry into ground. Leaving the Valley at 9.30am and returning after the league game. Please let the footy club know if your’e wanting a seat asap as numbers will be restricted.
Let’s get a huge contingent of Valley supporters down to the Grandfinals to hopefully see our two sides get over the line and then join the teams back at the club afterwards!
The big Swan Valley Football Club Legends vs Young Guns game is this coming Sunday 5th June from 12pm at the Valley. Come down and cheer on some of the great players of the past and the future!
The pot at the end of the rainbow was the three home wins for Swan Valley Football Club yesterday to start the season! Well done to head coach Brian Lloyd and team for the great start to the season. Thirds were unlucky to be narrowly beaten away. All good signs for a terrific season ahead!
